About Detroit EM News
A Social "Educational" Enterprise (Established 2010)
Detroit EM News, L3C LLC, is a mission-driven organization recognized as an L3C under the amended LLC status H.R. 1445 in the State of Michigan, in compliance with IRS Code 170c and operating under similar guidelines as a 501c(3). A key aspect of Detroit EM News, L3C is our online news platform, DETROIT ENTERTAINERS & MUSICIANS NEWS. This publication was developed to promote social wellness, showcase the skills of youth during their schooling, and to market both private and public sectors in pursuit of sustainability. In doing so, we support the educational and charitable initiatives of foundations, non-profits, philanthropic investments, and the broader community.
Since our founding in 2007, Detroit Entertainers & Musicians News has been among the first online (e-zine) and print publications in the country. Our print edition has been on hold since 2015. The publication serves as a vehicle to advance the educational and charitable missions of foundations, nonprofits, and philanthropic stakeholders.
Our initiatives encourage students to engage as professionals, allowing them to create work that earns them an hourly wage or socially responsible and/or accountable scholarships. We function as a membership-based organization employing a tranche (three-tier) structure to meet our objectives. These objectives include elevating awareness around transparency in schools, homes, and workplaces through our mentors who impart both declarative and procedural knowledge along with interpersonal skills across various disciplines, including fine and performing arts, digital communications, and publishing technologies.
